Polad Hashimov was born on January 2, 1975 in the village of Vendam, Gabala region, and moved with his family to Sumgayit. Major General was heroically killed on July 14, 2020 during heavy fighting in the direction of Tovuz while preventing an attack by the Armenian Armed Forces. Thus, Polad Hashimov became the third Azerbaijani general to be killed in the Karabakh war, which began in 1988, after Ismat Gayibov and Mahammad Asadov. He was married and had 2 sons and 1 daughter.
